Former NFBA President Expands Software Business

Lawrence, KS - Having served as the chief paid executive for the National Frame Building Association since 1978, former NFBA President James T. (Tom) Knight will resign his NFBA staff position effective September 1, 2009. Knight will pursue the growth and development of two software companies that he founded in 2000 and 2001.

One of Knight's companies, BizPortz, Inc., is the developer of several building takeoff and estimating systems. PostFrame Manager© software is the only estimating tool of its kind that provides real-time 3D rendering and a virtual walkthrough of a new building, right before a customer's eyes. In just a few minutes, a builder can custom-design a post-frame structure to almost any customer's specifications and immediately provide a price. The system generates details such as shop drawings and builder method-specific material lists, and provides outer shell and interior walls, ceilings, doors and windows design for more than one floor and/or multiple wings. Post-Frame Manager© is available in various versions covering both agricultural and commercial building applications. New modules are also now available for stud-wall, steel-frame, and structural insulated panel building systems, as well as metal and alternative roofing systems.

According to Knight: "With an established user base throughout the U.S., BizPortz has been expanding rapidly. Although I established the company, I have not been involved with it for some time. Now that I'm no longer the chief executive for NFBA, I will be more personally involved with marketing, management, service and development."

Work Comp Associates, a second company founded by Knight in 2001, is the developer of the ComplyAbility© system.
